Brad started in the auto industry at the age of 18 after selling vacuum
cleaners door to door and hit the ground running. Brad saw the auto
industry as a way for him to make a lot of money without the need for a
college education and as a place where the suckers would come to him
instead of knocking on doors trying to find them..
Brad’s journey into the world of automotive sales started at a North
Carolina Dodge dealership in January of 1998. This dealer provided him
with top sales training and a great foundation in the auto industry.
While at this dealership Brad shared an office with a 30 year sales
veteran who possessed a vast amount of experience in sales, management
and even ownership of dealerships. This veteran would eventually take
Brad under his wing and teach him things about sales and human behavior
you will never find published in a book or taught in any college course
on sales.
After 7 short months at the Dodge store Brad followed his mentor to a
Pontiac, Buick, GMC and Oldsmobile store in a major North Carolina city.
While at this dealership Brad would constantly compete with much more
experienced veterans for the Top Salesman position, some with more years
of selling experience than he had alive. Needless to say Brad’s innate
and natural talents did not go unnoticed for very long. At the age of 19
with only a little over a year in the car game Brad attained the
position of secondary finance manager, one of the youngest in the
industry. Brad remained in this position until moving to Illinois in
2000.
When he arrived in Illinois he was hired at a Chevy dealership as a
salesman. Once again Brad proved himself and after a short period there
he was promoted to the dealership’s Buy Here Pay Here Sales and Finance
Managers position. Brad remained here until September 2001 when he
decided to answer the countries call and join the Navy. During Brads
time in the U.S. Navy he stayed involved in the industry consulting
small independent dealers in the areas of the country that he was home
ported in.
Brad left the Navy in 2005 after his service was complete. Having been
stationed in Norfolk, Virginia he decided to take a position with one of
the top auto advertising websites AutoMart.com. With AutoMart.com Brad
worked with dealerships all over the nation on internet advertising and
maximizing results and return on investments with their internet sales
departments.
In early 2006 while meeting with a dealer group on a sales call with
Automart.com Brad met a contact that would later call and offer him the
job of Internet Sales Manager/Business Development Manager for their
dealer group. Brad took the position even though he knew it would be a
challenge as the dealer group had not had success with an internet
department in the past 10 years. Once again Brad proved himself as a
sales and management leader. He then was given the task as the Chevrolet
store’s Sales Manager. At that position Brad increased the stores sales
volume and profit margins. During this period Brad wore many hats, not
only as the Chevrolet Stores Sales Manager but he continued to consult
the internet department and also played the role as the backup Finance
Manager.
