I have started
this site after stumbling upon some of the “consumer advocate”
car buying guides on the Internet that are giving such
poor advice.
One popular site states that research should be 10% of the deal and negotiations 90% of the deal. This entire equation is completely backwards. Research is key.
So I followed my
grandfather’s advice and decided to do something about what was making
me angry.
While I found
myself reading through these consumer advocate sites and could not help
but think that if a consumer were to walk into my dealership using these
techniques advocated by these sites one of two things would happen.
1) I would blow them out of the dealership!
2)
More likely though I would rip their head off and make a nice buck in
the process.
As a
dealership Sales Manager, if a customer came in and was pushy,
much like is advocated on other sites, to me and tried to “grind me out”
I would make it my personal goal to win and make some money! On the
other hand if a customer came in and had done their homework properly
and was not treating the salesperson or me like slime I would take a
short deal.
An educated
person will know basically what they want, what it is worth and what
they were going to pay.
So they were nice
and heck, why not take an easy deal even if we only make a couple of
bucks!
Lucky for you I
am wiling to educate consumers on how to buy a car and come out
on top!
Before you start
please remember a basic fact, a dealer has to make
money. They are in the
business to make money, although they will take short deal and sometimes
even lose a couple of bucks to get a deal and
move a unit.
So read the info
in the site, do the research like I explain, then go down to the
dealership. Be nice and get a good deal! Lot's of times by following
what I say you will already have a great price before you even get
there!
