-Contact all 3 credit bureaus and dispute the information as inaccurate.
This Can be done online for all 3 bureaus. They will take full
corrective action with in 60 days.
-Monitor your report after that to make sure the inaccurate information
is removed and does not return.
You have accounts showing on your credit
report as not paid when they are! -Probably a simple oversight just follow the steps as
above. also try to find any receipts you have to support that these
credit accounts are paid.
You believe you are the victim of credit
identity theft.
-Contact your local police department.
-Contact your attorney for guidance.
-Notify the credit bureaus that your an id theft victim.
You have duplicate accounts on your credit
report.
-Notify the credit bureaus and watch to make sure it is updated to
reflect only one item on your credit report per account.
-Keep an eye on your credit to make sure it does not return.
You Find old accounts you forgot to pay on
your credit.
-This happens do not sweat it. Contact the creditor and make an offer
for settlement. Most creditors will take less than is owed on old
accounts.
-Make sure you credit report reflects after you have paid the debt. Also
make sure it does not show up again.
You have no established credit. -There are several ways to establish credit from secured
credit cards to small accounts. A little research or a talk with someone
that has established good credit can get you on the right path.
-Make sure to pay everything on time and monitor your credit to keep it
