I am not going to lecture you about being a safe driver and all the other stuff you already know! I will tell you there are a few ways to get a break on car insurance besides maintaining a perfect record. One is most insurance companies will give a discount if you complete a safe driver course and of those that do most will pay for the course. Also make sure to inform your insurance company of all stand out safety items like side air bags, reverse cameras etc. as these are often reason for a discount as well. Do not forget to tell them about theft deterrents like onstar, car alarms, low jack, gps etc.

Make sure to shop insurance rates just like you would shop for a car or a loan. Get several quotes and see who offers the best coverage for the lowest amount. I know some people have been with their insurance company for years so the feel obligated but if you can save several hundred dollars a year why stay!
