First thing is first, so you have the new or used
car itch. That's great and exciting and sites like
Edmunds.com
,UsedCars.com
Automotive.com
, Yahoo! Autos
and
InvoiceDealers.com
can help you find a car for your itch but the question is can you
buy a car? I know it is a rough question but believe me
it is embarrassing for you and the dealer if you show
up go through the hoops and can not buy a car.
Three Questions to ask yourself at this moment!
1. Am I paying cash completely for my next car or am I going
to finance(make payments) on the balance?
2. What is my Credit History like?
3. How soon am I looking to buy?
Now if your thinking that your paying cash so why worry about
your credit, well you could be in trouble. If you
do not know your
credit history or have not checked it in the last 6 months then
Stop right now and
Go to
Equifax.com
and get your 3 in one credit report
with score now! You should
always know what is on your credit! Especially now a
days with all the I.D. theft that is going on. It is also
important to have all 3 as some creditors do not report to all 3 and
some lenders do not use all 3 to make their decisions.
Therefore you will not see the whole picture without all 3!
So by now we should know the answers to questions one and two.
So if you have your credit report from
Equifax.com
in front of you and there are no derogatory
items on it than continue on. If there are derogatory items on your
reports no matter if you believe they are correct or not go to our
credit section Now before moving on!
If your score is 625 or below I would recommend going to our
Challenged Credit Buyer section it
could be more helpful!
One and two are out of the way and now for three, how soon? If you
are planning on buying in the next 6 days STOP and ask
yourself have you done all the research you need, are these questions
answered; do you have the dealerships narrowed down, do you have a
fair price on the car your looking to purchase, do you
know what dealerships have the car you want, what rate you can get on a
loan, what would an extended warranty cost you, what will your
insurance
be, do you have your list of questions?
If all of these questions are not answered then push
it out a few more days and continue on with this Car Buying
Guide and get the Tips to help you save!
