One of the disadvantages to Buying a Used Car is that you don't have as much freedom on deciding on what make, model, color, etc. as you would have Buying a New Car but it can save you money! UsedCars.com is a great place to find  a variety of used cars in your area and get free quotes.

Now that we know you can Buy a Car  and how much you can afford it is time to get some scrap paper and make some notes. Make  3 columns. At the top I want you to write down what you can afford to spend on your Used Car. Now I want you to write in column 1 what you need in a car like 2 doors or 4 doors, automatic, truck or SUV, power windows and door locks etc. Now in a column 2 write what you would like to have in your Used Car such as a sunroof, gps etc. In the 3rd column I want you top put your to 3 priorities for your Used Car  like performance, safety, comfort, convenience and so on.

There we have a paper with what you can afford, need, want and what your priorities are in your Used Car. The next step is to go to UsedCars.com  or  Cars.com and research the makes and models out there, no need to get a quote yet though. They have great tools for this! It is ok you can GO to UsedCars.com or  Cars.com right now (it will open in a new window) and start doing your research.

Now while doing your research I want you to keep in mind your 3 columns and as far as price goes give yourself a $2200.00 or so padding. Right now we are just determining which Cars best fit into your needs, wants and priorities.

By now you should realize that there are tons of  makes, models, colors etc. that falls into your category of  Used Cars  that you want to Buy. I want you to pick the 3 cars  that come the closest to the perfect match for your Used Car. If there are more than 3 start to narrow it down by price and then how much you like the look etc. (It is ok to have an extra or two)

In the end you should end up with 3 Cars you are looking at for your Buying choice.

When buying a Used Car it is a good idea to check out some consumer reports on the make and models of the ones you are considering. Edmunds.com is a great site to do that research on!

Now also check and see what the insurance will be on it as this can affect the overall decision. Insurance.com is a great place to get quotes from all the major companies!
